Glutamine significantly decreased mucositis severity in the oral cavity, pharynx and larynx induced by CRT
( Chemotherapy) in patients with HNC ( Head & Neck Cancer).

Oxidative stress in lymphocytes, neutrophils, and serum of oral cavity cancer patients is due to
the enhanced lipid peroxidation and decrease in antioxidant enzymes, and it can be restored with
dietary supplementation of L¬ glutamine.

Signifcantly reduced the incidence of grade 2, 3, or 4 mucositis and/or reduced weight loss
as well as the duration, time of onset, and/or maximum grade of mucositis.

Glutamine significantly reduces the risk and severity of Oral
Mucositis during radiotherapy or chemotherapy.

Glutamine suppressed the inflammation related to the disease and treatment
and reduced toxicity with statistical signifance.

The use of oral glutamine play an important role in the prevention of acute radiation toxicities, the
weight loss and the need for analgesics in patients with T&UAM(thoracic and upper
aerodigestive malignancies), especially if the treatment plan includes combined
modalitytherapy with chemo-radiation.
- Glutamine during C-CRT ( Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy)in patients with Stage IIIB NSCLC appeared to have a beneficial effect with respect to prevention of weight loss and unplanned treatment delays, and reduced the severity and incidence of acute- and late¬RIE ( radiation-induced esophagitis ).
